How electroplating brings historical objects to life: seals, badges and decorations

Galvanoplasty is a technology by which we are able to reproduce in detail not only seals, but also badges, decorations or similar historical objects.
To illustrate, we can see in Fig. 1 copper copies of seals, including the seal of Přemysl Otakar II (ca. 1270), the great seal of the Vyšehrad chapter (1250), the seal of the provincial court (1219) or the papal seal (after 1099). The replicas were modified by patination or provided with a surface treatment – antique silver.

As another example, Figure 2 shows the production of copper electroplating of the Czechoslovak aviation badge from 1923-1953.

Using the technology of electroplating we also made copies of the Madonna of Our Lady of Loreto, which were further silver-plated – see Fig. 3.

As a final example of the possibility of using electroplating, Figure 4 shows the production of a copy of historical seals and stamps.
