Electroplating: a traditional method for the production of commemorative plaques with a modern twist
Memorial plaques, statues or monuments represent an important way into our history and present. They remind us of important personalities, events or places and often become a permanent part of the public space. One of the traditional methods of making them is electroplating (in this post you can learn more about this method of plating).
Galvanoplasty allows us to create not only plates with inscriptions, but also with reliefs, portraits, etc. Thanks to the properties of electroforming, fine details can be achieved that would be almost impossible to produce with other techniques. Moreover, the realisation of commemorative plaques using our technology is very cost-effective – the cost is approximately half that of traditional stone or bronze cast plaques.
Physical and digital materials such as models, photographs, 3D scans or 3D printing can be used to produce the plates. The plates are made from copper, which stands out for its durability and authentic metallic appearance. The result is a detailed plate with high resistance to atmospheric influences. In addition, the plates can be further surface-treated – for example, by patinating with different shades of colour or even gilding – to give them a unique character.
